The Gallery Nightclub, York

The Gallery started life as a club called GG Barnums (possibly named after a club in New York in the 70's)
It was sold to a private businessman who refurbished it with four staircases, a basement room and a VIP lounge,
It re-opened soon after as Silks Nightclub.

Silks became a very successful nightclub and was soon attracting interest from larger companies.
Northern Leisure was one of these companies and they eventually persuaded the owners of Silks
to part company with the club. It was refurbished again and re-named The Gallery
(worth noting that there was also a club in New York called The Gallery in Soho Manhattan,
it was one of the pioneers of disco music) A few years later Luminar Leisure bought out
Northern Leisure to become the biggest nightclub owners in the country.
